How I was introduced to Indelible Grace?

How I was introduced to Indelible Grace?

Prior to working on my doctorate, I was a college and university pastor in Tennessee. We had our own Bible study on Sunday morning (and on Sunday Evenings after church services in the summer). Prior to our study we sang songs, and I could tell the students were interested in songs with substance. So, at one of my conferences, I came across the music of Indelible Grace. Several music artists had taken the lyrics of older theologically sound hymns and updated their musical arrangements to tunes that were either familiar or easier to sing. As I introduced these ‘new’ hymns to the college students, they rapidly became their favorites. Songs like ‘Abide with Me’, ‘Arise, My Soul, Arise’ and ‘I Boast No More’ were requested over and over again as they met the needs of both heart and mind. I knew that I had found the type of music this generation needed.

So, next Sunday night, Matthew Smith and his band Indelible Grace will be performing at Providence. I hope you will take the opportunity to come, watch, and listen. I know for some generations it’s not your ‘style of music’ and that is okay. But come watch the heartfelt worship of those around you and be supportive of the few opportunities they have to experience it. This is going to be a special night. I also hope you will invite a friend to attend. Your soul will be blessed as you see your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ encouraged by the sound theology of Gospel truth.
