Growing through Fasting
Last Sunday, we learned about the Spiritual Discipline of fasting. It is a practice that I do not do often, but when I do, I derive great benefit from it. I have learned from several other spiritual mentors on this subject, so below is a list of recommended reading on the topic.
Dave Mathis. Habits of Grace: Enjoying Jesus through the Spiritual Disciplines (Crossway, 2016)
John Piper. A Hunger for God: Desiring God Through Fasting and Prayer (Crossway, 1997)
Donald Whitney. The Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life (NavPress, 1991).
In addition to these, there are multiple sermons by Puritan authors online that are of benefit. I highly suggest those of Thomas Boston, Matthew Henry, Thomas Manton, and John Owen. You can find them for free at https://reformedbooksonline.com/topics/topics-by-subject/fasting/
I hope they are of benefit to you as they were to me.
