A Message Regarding Church Order, Peace, and Safety
To the Members of Providence Baptist,
As we continue to gather for worship, we are providing a brief update regarding the peace and order of our services. We are aware of recent incidents involving disruptions at churches across the country and the presence of protesters in various communities.
Our goal, in coordination with the security team, is to ensure that our focus remains entirely on the worship of God, the preaching of His Word, study, and fellowship. To that end, please be aware that specific plans are in place to address various situations that may arise. In the unlikely event of a disruption, our team is prepared. For the effectiveness of these measures, we keep the details of these plans internal, but we are actively working to maintain a secure environment for every member and visitor. Please be assured that our security plans include specific measures to guard and secure the children's wing. In such an event, this area will be prioritized to ensure our children remain safe.
How You Can Assist Us
Should we experience a disruption on or near the property, we ask for your cooperation in the following ways to help us manage the situation effectively:
- Remain Calm and Prayerful: If a disruption occurs inside the sanctuary, please stay in your seat and remain calm (1 Peter 5:8). We are ambassadors for Christ even in intense situations (2 Corinthians 5:20). Trust that the situation is being addressed.
- Do Not Engage or Provoke: If you encounter protesters, do not engage in debate, shouting, or any form of confrontation. Often, these individuals are seeking a reaction to record or escalate (Proverbs 26:4). Your silence and composure are your best response.
- Listen to Instructions: Please follow the direction of the Elders, Deacons, and the security team immediately. We are here to handle the logistics of the situation so that the congregation is protected.
- Let the Security Team and Law Enforcement Lead: We have protocols for involving local law enforcement when necessary. Please allow our team and the officers to be the sole points of contact with any disruptive individuals.
Our Commitment
We do not operate out of a spirit of fear, but out of a commitment to stewardship (Matthew 7:24-27; 1 Corinthians 16:13). Protecting the flock is an act of love, and we take that responsibility seriously. Our prayer is that these measures allow you to worship and serve with a focused heart, knowing that the "God of peace" is with us.
Sincerely,
The Elder and Deacon Council
Providence Baptist Church
