Student Retreat This Weekend!

unnamed

Our retreat this weekend for our students is at Camp To Know Him in Pisgah, AL. The camp has miles of wooded trails, amazing rock formations, and incredible views of the Tennessee River. It has been a great place for the past 5 years of unifing our group of students through the shared experiences of hiking, repelling, and team-building activities. But more than anything, this place has become a sacred space for us as a youth group as we worshipped Him and had focused time of instruction from His Word.

The theme this year is on IDENTITY: Understanding who you are and why it matters to God. Our theme verse is Galatians 2:20, “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” We who have trusted in Christ, have a new identity; we are not who we once were, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” (2 Cor. 5:17). It is imperative that we learn what it means to be ‘in Christ’ and have Christ ‘in us’. This is especially true of students, who struggle during the formative years to navigate the various voice they are hearing; whether its pressure from friends, or the thoughts in their own head.

We ask our church family to pray for us this weekend! We know that the blessings we have experienced through the years have been in large part due to the faithful prayers of our parents and church family.
